Animal genetics firm Focus Genetics has appointed two new directors, a reflection of the firm’s growth and prominence in the New Zealand animal genetics market. Rick Cranswick and Professor Hugh Blair will strengthen the existing Board of Andrew MacPherson (Chair) and Warren Parker.
Rick Cranswick
A Specialist in strategy, governance and management Rick has very strong financial acumen with ties to the rural sector and extensive commercial networks. Rick has built enduring relationships as a CEO, company director and trustee working with organisations to achieve strategic objectives, respond to change and lift organisational performance. Rick has real world commercial experience assisting established and emerging rural based companies and tech companies.
Professor Hugh Blair
Hugh Blair’s specialist area is animal breeding and genetics with more than 40 years’ experience in the education, science, and agricultural sectors. Hugh is internationally recognised for his work with a variety of commercial clients helping them to develop sheep breeding schemes Nationally and Internationally. Hugh brings a wealth of experience to position Focus Genetics as a global leader in animal breeding.
Board chair Andrew MacPherson says that 10 years ago the bold step was made to establish a specialist animal genetics company and the company policy has always been to recruit the best people in the market. The appointment of the new directors reflects the steady growth and demand for our services.
