Get Involved

Whether it’s through a planting day, a research partnership, a field day, or a school visit — we welcome opportunities to work together for the future of farming in Aotearoa.

Creating Enduring Value

As a state-owned farming company, Pāmu has a responsibility — and a deep commitment — to deliver lasting value to the communities we’re part of.

Our 2040 strategy calls us to be more than good farmers — it calls us to be trusted partners creating value for all Aotearoa New Zealand.

As we deliver operational excellence on-farm, we also invest in the future of our sector.

Through on-farm innovation, knowledge-sharing, environmental care, and a strong apprenticeship pipeline, we support the long-term viability of New Zealand’s food and fibre communities.

A Shared Vision for the Sector

We work collaboratively with rural communities, mana whenua, industry bodies, schools, researchers, and neighbours to create resilient farming systems. Through our Open Farm Days, we open the farm gate to share best practices and innovations — from nature-based solutions and genetics trials to animal welfare and climate resilience.

We’re also proud to lead farm-scale trials of climate-adapted systems, explore plant protein opportunities, and partner on renewables, water storage, and biodiversity restoration. These partnerships are core to how we deliver on our purpose — and are designed to benefit both our operations and the wider industry.

Measurable Impact

By 2030, we aim to deliver $50 million annually in industry-good value. That includes open days, field visits, scholarships, and community initiatives that share lessons and unlock value across the motu. Our regional engagement teams help tailor support based on community needs — from supporting dog trials in Otago to hosting science students in Northland.

  • Best practices shared – We amplify success stories and support collective learning across the sector.
  • A unified future – We co-invest in people, ideas, and systems that ensure farming remains viable for future generations.
  • Connected communities – We foster relationships that enhance belonging, resilience, and pride in rural New Zealand.
  • Tangible support – From paddock to policy, we back our values with real action and regional investment.

Strengthening local connections

We support local community initiatives, conservation projects, and cultural partnerships, recognising the mana and aspirations of those we share the whenua with.
  • We support local iwi, hapū, schools, conservationists, and community groups across the motu.
  • Our teams actively participate in regional networks, civil defence, and environmental restoration.
  • In Northland, we’re proud to partner with Kiwi Coast to help protect and restore biodiversity across 17,547ha of predator-controlled farmland.

Investing in Future Generations

Supporting future farmers

Through our scaled Pāmu Apprenticeship Scheme and pathways to farm ownership, we’re helping to grow the next generation of food and fibre leaders.

  • Our Pāmu Apprenticeship Scheme helps young people build meaningful careers in agriculture.
  • Across our portfolio, managers are mentoring future leaders — passing on both practical skills and the deeper values of guardianship and service.

Sharing what we learn

Supporting Education and Research

We collaborate with schools, tertiary providers and research institutions to unlock innovation and support careers in the primary sector.

  • Every season, we run industry-good trials that test new farming systems, genetics, animal welfare tools, and environmental technologies.
  • Our goal is to deliver $50 million annually in industry-good value, shared through events, insights, and collaborations.
  • Whether it’s trialling antibiotic reduction strategies or regenerative grazing systems, we aim to showcase what’s possible for the whole sector.

Partnering for impact

  • We work with iwi, scientists, educators, processors and exporters to co-create the future of farming.
  • Our farm-scale trials in climate-resilient and nature-positive practices are laying the groundwork for land-use decisions across Aotearoa.
  • We’re actively exploring renewable energy and water resilience options to future-proof our farms and those of others.
