Connect with us in Te Tai Tokerau
Next week we’re in Te Tai Tokerau Northland, opening the gates at Kapiro and heading to Northland Field Days to share what we’re learning on-farm and connect with farmers and rural businesses.
Kapiro Open Farm Day – 25 February
On Wednesday we’re hosting an Open Farm Day at Kapiro. The day brings together local farmers, agribusiness, rural professionals, Pāmu people, local government, MPI and horticulture businesses.
The programme includes an overview of the Kapiro farm system, practical insights on climate adaptation, an update on Sheep of the Future, and time on-farm in smaller groups to talk through what’s working and what’s being trialled in the diversification space.
Northland Field Days – 26–28 February
From Thursday the team will be at Northland Field Days in Dargaville, as part of the Science for Farmers site at H1 and H2b.
Across the three days we’ll be there for practical conversations about managing for a future climate, dairy-beef and genetics, tools for a low-emissions future, improving on-farm performance, freshwater quality, methane, and employment opportunities with Pāmu. Team members will be rostered on the stand to support discussion and questions.
Why this week matters
Both the Open Farm Day and Fieldays are about sharing openly, keeping things practical, and learning alongside others. It’s a chance to connect research, farm systems and real-world experience, on what works on the ground in Northland.
