Pāmu Invests in Future Farming Leaders with Key Appointments and Career Pathways

Pāmu is proud to announce a series of key farm leadership appointments, reinforcing its commitment to growing talent and creating meaningful career pathways across New Zealand’s agricultural sector. These appointments reflect the state-owned enterprise’s focus on internal progression, leadership development, and long-term sustainability in farming.

New Appointments:

  • Jordan Smith – appointed Farm Business Manager, Panekiri Station (effective 6 October). Jordan has successfully managed Pāmu farm, Titoki in Northland for eight years, leading a full farm development and winning the Pāmu Top Livestock Farm award for two consecutive years. Jordan was also the inaugural winner of the 2013 Ahuwhenua Young Māori Farmer of the Year.
  • Holly Landreth – promoted to Farm Manager, Thornicroft. Holly has been with Thornicroft for three years as Stock Manager and has twice stepped up as interim Farm Manager.
  • Gene Thomas – appointed Farm Manager, Molesworth Station (September 2025 – June 2026). Gene brings extensive high-country experience and a deep connection to Molesworth, having previously worked in leadership roles on the station.
  • Mace Lee – appointed Farm Business Manager, Waipori Station (effective 8 September). Mace returns to Pāmu after a decade, bringing valuable experience gained in the North Island.

“These leaders embody the capability and passion that drive Pāmu forward. We’re excited to see them step into these roles and continue delivering sustainable, high-performing farming,” says Pāmu CEO Mark Leslie.

“Internal promotions make up 56% of recent appointments, a testament to our commitment to developing people and building great leaders. From our apprenticeship scheme to equity partnerships, we’re creating real pathways for ambitious farmers to grow, lead, and eventually own farms.”

With initiatives like the Pāmu Apprenticeship Scheme, dairy contracting options, and equity partnerships for livestock farmers, Pāmu is building a future where talented individuals can progress from entry-level roles to farm ownership. The first cohort comprising of nine apprentices are currently being placed across Pāmu farms, with interviews underway for 10 apprentices to join the 2026 intake.
