Alison Worth

Senior Sustainability Advisor

Championing environmental excellence, one farm at a time

For Alison Worth, every day at work is full of "best moments." As Senior Sustainability Advisor at Pāmu, Alison brings strategic thinking and deep environmental expertise to support farming operations across the business. She describes landing this role as her dream job.

Before joining Pāmu, Alison spent four years as SME - Environment at FarmIQ, adding digital technology to practical and science-based expertise she now applies across the diverse Pāmu portfolio.

"Making our whenua fit and healthy."

That's what drives Alison each morning: a simple but profound commitment to environmental stewardship.

Te ao Māori in practice

For Alison, te ao Māori goes beyond protocols and language. What matters most in her line of work is understanding and valuing the Māori worldview with respect to te taiao (the environment) and te whenua (the land). This perspective shapes how she approaches environmental stewardship and guides her recommendations to farming teams.

What she loves most

What does Alison love about her job? Seeing the effects of integrated systems working well to create high-performing farms and landscapes.  From flourishing biodiversity and animal wellbeing to water quality and soil health – long-term plans and practices are designed with thought and integrity.

Defining farming excellence

"Doing the right thing, at the right time and farming with integrity. Always."

That's how Alison defines farming excellence. In her day-to-day work, this translates to supporting operations teams to plan their activities with environmental outcomes front of mind, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to make decisions that balance productivity with environmental responsibility.

Of the Pāmu values, Alison relates most strongly to ‘Bold’. As a strategist, she constantly looks for ways to do things better, identifying the right approach when there are often many "right ways" to choose from. This boldness shows in her willingness to challenge conventional thinking and push for environmental practices that demonstrate true integrity, even when the path forward requires courage.

Pride in every action

What makes Alison proud at Pāmu? Everyone who does something — big or small — that takes the business closer to environmental farming excellence. From recycling feed sacks instead of sending them to landfill, to clearing out old farm rubbish dump sites (not a nice job!), to planting waterways, to trapping pests, to saving trees. Every action makes a difference, and Alison recognises and celebrates all of them.

Looking ahead

When asked where she sees herself in five years, Alison expects she will probably still be at Pāmu, continuing to champion water quality, waste management, biodiversity, and soil health — the environmental fundamentals that underpin sustainable farming.

Making environmental excellence achievable

Alison Worth’s story demonstrates that environmental expertise isn’t about imposing restrictions. It represents a shift toward enabling better outcomes. Through strategic thinking, genuine understanding of te ao Māori perspectives on land and environment, and an ability to celebrate progress at every scale, Alison helps the farming teams of Pāmu integrate environmental excellence into their daily operations.

"I am proud of everyone that does something, big or small, that takes us closer to environmental farming excellence. Every bit makes a difference."
